Childhood Lead Poisoning has been identified as the #1 child health risk in the United States, reducing IQ and causing a host of other permanent, serious health effects. Adults also can suffer ill effects from exposure to lead resulting in a myriad of health issues, affecting their quality of life. Unlike other health issues, lead poisoning is entirely preventable.
The Federal Government has taken an active role by formulating a plan to eliminate childhood lead poisoning by 2010. New York State has adopted a similar plan by forming the Governor’s Advisory Council on Lead Poisoning.
The “Residential Lead Hazard Reduction Act of 1992” ( Title X ) started it all with the Real Estate Disclosure in 1996. That was followed by HUD’s Lead Safe Housing Rule in 2000. Since then, EcoSpect with EPA certified lead inspectors, has been providing lead consulting services to all facets from private homeowners and landlords to non-profit housing and government agencies.
EcoSpect is one of the largest lead testing companies in Upstate New York. EcoSpect uses X-Ray Fluorescence Analyzers (XRF) to perform lead testing. Using an XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence Analyzer) for lead testing is the most cost effective way to test for lead in your home. EcoSpect has a staff of EPA Certified lead inspectors to perform the lead inspections.
XRF Surveys for Lead in Paint & Soil. EcoSpect can perform a Surface-by-Surface inspection to identify the presence of lead in the interior & exterior of the dwelling.
EcoSpect can test your home for Lead Based Paint Hazards, looking for potentially harmful instances of lead based paint that is above the Federal guidelines of 1.0 mg/cm2. We also visually inspect for areas likely to turn up lead based paint. We will take dust samples on window sills and floors to determine how much lead dust in present. This is also part of our Lead Inspection procedure in a Risk Assessment to determine the amount of Lead Based Paint Hazards present in a home.
